Trama – Amistad è il nome di una nave di schiavi in viaggio da Cuba verso gli Stati Uniti nel 1839. Sta trasportando un carico di africani, venduti come schiavi a Cuba. Si trovano incatenati nella stiva della nave e tra loro c'è Cinque, che guida un ammutinamento e prende il controllo della nave.
